Bringing the Heat with Branston’s New Chilli Piccalilli Product Launch

When Branston got in touch about launching their new Chilli Piccalilli, I knew this wasn’t going to be your average pickle promo. They wanted a creative that would tease the product while capturing the ‘little kick’ that sets it apart. The website needed a teaser video for the month leading up to the launch, designed to intrigue and entice visitors without revealing too much.

The brief was clear: introduce a new twist on a beloved British classic, and make mouths water in the process.

Branston wanted to show off their chilli-infused condiment with energy, warmth, and a playful edge. It needed to feel bold and exciting, but still grounded in the brand’s rich heritage of hearty, flavour-packed food. In this teaser, I aimed to create an atmosphere of anticipation, focusing on the vibrant colours and ensuring to pixelate the pack enough to keep people guessing but still have the chilli just distinguishable enough to get some buzz surrounding the product before the official product launch day.

For the main header video, my creative concept focused on spotlighting that “little kick”. The aim wasn’t to intimidate audiences with spice, but to communicate the subtle tingle of heat added to piccalilli’s signature tang. To bring this to life, I gave the chilli a cheeky little wobble, almost like it was dancing, echoing the kind of reaction you get after a surprise bite of something spicy. I also made sure the phrase “little kick” stood out in the on-screen copy, using emphasis and timing to give it a punchier, more playful moment.

Visually, I leaned into Branston’s classic colour palette, but introduced the orange featured on pack as a new secondary brand colour, used here to signal heat and differentiate products with a spicier edge. Subtle animation and punchy transitions kept the pace lively, while the addition of the ham roll grounded the video with a real-world serving suggestion that’s as tasty as it is relatable.

Whether it ends up in a burger, a butty, or straight off the spoon, Branston’s Chilli Piccalilli is about bringing something new to the table. This video is the first taste – a short, spicy intro to a product with plenty of punch.

Watch the teaser above and… Bring out the Branston.
